A Smile from a Stranger

I was taking the mutt for a walk this morning and we passed the house with the giant picture window that we pass almost every morning. Today, though, an old dour woman was standing in front of the window gazing out onto her leaf-strewn yard. As soon as we entered her field of vision, a huge smile overtook her. It lit up her face, then the whole window. I smiled back. She waved. I waved back. It made my day.

As you go out into the world don't forget what a difference you can make just by smiling at a complete stranger.
