I've been doing an experiment for the past few years to see if it's possible to watch this video without crying at the end. Hasn't happened yet.

In 1969 President Nixon proposed to cut the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's $20 million budget in half because of war spending. Fred Rogers went to Washington to impress upon members of the senate how important that money was to his show and why it mattered to children. Heading the senate committee at the time was senator John O. Pastore, who was known to be a real pill. Watch what happens to him in less than seven minutes of talking to Fred:
